I love this book. The beautiful story is told from the point of view of Ani's who desperately misses the "light" in his life and is very happy to have it back at the end of the day. Without giving away too much, I did want to mention that stories like these are rare in the world of kids' books. A strong theme like the one in this book that speaks to children makes them understand that they are not alone in having to deal with some very strong feelings. Perhaps other kids are forced to manage these kinds of feelings as well. I also like that this book doesn't sugarcoat illness and recovery. It is optimistic without being hopelessly so. I appreciated reading it. I hope you like it too.
