Fishbait is useful for fish that have very restricted spawn areas, such as the Blue Marlin at the pier. Fish Bait can be from Manila clams, which can be dug up from sand when you see tiny black circles spitting out water. They are very abundant and are easy to farm, and only one is required to create fishing bait. Once you have dug up the Manila clam, you will automatically learn the fishing bait recipe, which can be made at any workbench. Section 2 - Fishing Techniques These techniques are to prevent thumb twitching, which can cause rare fish to be scared away. Technique 1: Eyes closed. Use the vibrations in your controller (if you have it) to feel the bite. Since the fake bites barely shake your controller, you won't twitch by accident in anticipation. This technique may slow down reaction time. Technique 2: Thumbs flexed. Instead of placing your thumb on the A button, hold the thumb up, flexing the Tendon to make it so twitches don't press A. This doesn't slow your speed down and I have used it myself to great success. Section 3: Shadow Analysis Firstly, shadows come in seven types and six sizes. 1 - Very Small - Clownfish 2 - Small - Horse Mackerel 3 - Medium - Barred Knifejaw 4 - Large - Red Snapper 5 - Very Large - Sea Bass :( 6 - Largest - Coelacanth 6s - Largest but with a fin - Great White Shark 6e - Longer than a size 6 - Moray Eel Use these sizes to differentiate between the possible fishes in your spawning pool (Section 4) The most difficult and most rewarding is knowing how to tell between sizes 5 and 6. As this allows you to avoid sea bass. At roughly the same thickness, the size 5 is very top-heavy. The head of the fish is very wide, and it curves inwards to form a thin body. However, the size 6 is different. Even though the head is the same thickness, the body is wider, the shadow is longer, and girth is more evenly distributed down the rest of the shadow's length. Some of these intersect with other locations, such as the Pier, and the ocean. Let's say we want to catch the Blue Marlin, which is a rare fish that can only be caught at the pier. For example, let's say we are trying to catch it in the Southern Hemisphere. First, check the chart. Second, check the correct hemisphere. The chart says the Blue Marlin indeed spawns in March [Southern Hemisphere] and at any time of day. This means we will be able to catch it. Let us refer back to the chart on what we can catch. There are 26 possible fishes that can be caught in March. However, by fishing before 4pm on a Sunny day, we can avoid the Coelacanth, The Saw shark, The Great White Shark, and the Hammerhead shark, bringing down the possible fishes to 22.
