In Spring 2022: This Boxwood has been in my yard for more than 20 years. It is now too big for my small yard. Its bulk is too "heavy". I want to try cloud pruning. A few goals: 1. Light & airy feel 2. Able to see the structure inside 3. Cloud floats and are separated from each others. While I think this may be am impossible task given how fast Boxwood grow, I am giving it a try. Worst case scenario is it grows back to be a globe shape plant. In August, did two more prunes to remove some branches. (I thought I was done for the year!) The "clouds" or "boxwood balls" are too close and bulky once the growth set in after the spring pruning. In September, improve the shape and height to fit in my goals. After this prune, the size and shape are more appropriate with its surrounding plants. Going forward, either maintain the clouds or, if proven impossible, prune it to a globe. Because a lot has been trimmed off in this round of prunes, the resulting globe should be a lot smaller. Will see how things go in 2023! Day 1 - • Day 1 of 6, Cloud Pruning For A Large Boxw... Day 2 - • Day 2 of 6, Cloud Pruning For A Large Boxw... Day 3 - • Day 3 of 6, Cloud Pruning For A Large Boxw...
