Chopin's 24 Preludes, Op. 28, are a set of pieces for the piano, one in each of the twenty-four keys. Chopin wrote them in Majorca (a Spanish island in the Mediterranean), where he spent the winter with George Sand and her children to escape the damp Paris weather. Famously known as the Raindrop Prelude, this is a wonderful piece for late intermediate pianists that explores a wide range of expressive moods: from the delicate pastoral quality of the opening theme to the dark and melancholic character of the middle section. It will help you develop control over the weight of your arm, which allows for dramatic changes in mood and depth of sound. Chopin did not publish any textual names for his preludes, however, pianists Alfred Cortot and Hans von Bülow created nicknames, respectively "But Death is here, in the shadows" and "Raindrop". 00:00 Main Theme 05:23 Middle Section 10:42 Return of the Main Theme Learn more about this and other pieces with the PianoLIT app for iOS or the WebApp. 🎹 More info on https://www.pianolit.com/ Interested in learning more about all piano related topics? ✏️ Check out our eBooks @ https://pianolit.com/ebooks #harmonicanalysis #musictheory #musicharmony #chopin #raindrop #prelude
