Another victory for cheetah conservation at andBeyond Phinda Private Game Reserve. Three male cheetah were moved from Samara Private Game Reserve in the Karoo, to andbeyond Phinda Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, with the help of Conserv Travel, marking another important translocation to ensure genetic diversity and long-term resilience within the cheetah metapopulation. ---------- Cheetah, like many big cats, have experienced significant habitat and population fragmentation within the last century, and are currently slipping from Vulnerable to Endangered in the IUCN’s Red List of Threatened Species. ‪@EndangeredWildlifeTrust‬'s Metapopulation Project plays a key role in the conservation of cheetah across Southern Africa by addressing the issue of population fragmentation.
