Dead Rat Society turned The Finsbury into a sweat-soaked carnival of chaos last night, blurring the lines between hip hop swagger and dance-punk ferocity. The show commenced in total darkness and a Dead Rats, famous for their gig intros this time had Star Wars villian Palpatine booming "Welcome to the stage...the dark side of the London Underground scene....Dead Rat Society" then they launched into 'The Night' a track Public Enemy would sound like if they were re-created in 2025. Announcing they mean business to the Finsbury packed crowd. Lead Singer Ed Harris charmed with audience with coincidence swagger and style, getting even the most dance-shy audience members grooving, jumping and smiling from ear to ear. Connor Firmston on bass laid down grooves whilst bouncing incessantly DJ Ben Potter like a crazed Rat Conducter. They were missing usual drummer Will Pinhey but replacement Dan produced a solid beat. Obvously best mates and palpable chemistry between members having the time of their lives we challenge anyone not to 'fall hard' for these loveable Rats after seeing them in element, which is definately their live performances. The setlist was stacked with instant highlights like a Dead Rat Society 'greatest hits' set. 'Immaculate Vibes' lived up to its name, a groove-heavy anthem immaculate and vibey. 'Shoplifters Welcome' a punk drenched call to arms. 'Can You Feel It In Your Face' 'Bounce Back' and 'Oh No Go' got everyone dancing and shaking the wooden Finsbury floor. Radio X Big One and 'Girls' invited a stage invasion of girls in copycat denim jumpsuits, even the Promoter and support band To The Dogs got on the stage and joined the Dead Rats live jamboree. Ending on the unreleased 'No Doubt Freak Out' vocalist Ed saying there are only 4 works to remember 'No Doubt' and 'Freak Out' got the audience singing back like they had known the track all their lives. Pretty awesome for a track they probably heard for the first time only 2 mins before. By the end, sweat, noise, arenaline blurred into one messy, unforgettable night. With another two albums worth of tracks in the Rats nest. We can only await for what they do next suffice to say it will not be predictable. We hope to see them at festivals and touring up and down the UK next year. #deadratsociety #deadratsocietymusic Dea they are a band that is all consuming live everything turned up to the MAX. One look at the sweaty crowd at the end of the show, smiling like lunatics, like they had all taken something producing a heady rush of dopamine - that ever addictive (but legal) drug that is DRS. 'There ain't no party like a Dead Rats party'. And this lot certainly party harder than any band we know. It's a party you really need to attend...and seeing them live is the only way to get invited.
