"Infernal Aether" (Demon) by GamerKnight750 | Geometry Dash 2.2

"Infernal Aether" by GamerKnight750 is a really cool level that recently dropped. It's made for a contest where contrast is an important rule, which explains why this level switches between heaven and hell visually. Both of these themes have been done in Geometry Dash a lot already, but I think GamerKnight750 did a good job of creating art and designs that don't feel too overdone. Either way, the combination makes this level stand out a bit. It actually reminds me a little of "Wings of Angel", a 7-year old megacollab that had similar theme combinations, if anybody remembers that, although this has a much more modern and polished look. Unfortunately, while the visuals are really good, I can't say the same about the gameplay overall. The combination of such different themes can understandably make it hard to make smooth transitions (gameplay-wise), and this level suffers there. Pretty much every transition between a part and the next is blind, utilizing fullscreen color pulses and toggles, making it so that you need to memorize the gameplay right after. This doesn't make for a very intuitive and enjoyable experience. Within each part, the gameplay is fine, but with so many parts, the blind transitions come up quite often. Luckily, some of them do give you time to react afterwards, and as such, it's not too bad to beat this after a practice run or two. Still, I would have loved to see the level flow more smoothly from part to part without resorting to these fullscreen pulses. The part at 1:20 is a good example of a smooth transition between the two themes using only a simple background effect.
