Heart rhythm mediation is a meditation practice where we take slow, deep breaths, while focusing on the heart. And we use the beating of the heart as our metronome. Inhale for roughly 6-8 beats, the exhale for roughly 6-8 beats. Research shows that it reduces stress, increases HRV, increases vagal tone, and boosts overall wellbeing. It also helps expand our sense of self, and participants in the study found that it also helped them feel more aware of the interconnectedness between body, heart, and emotions. The study also found that the benefits increased with duration of meditation. So 20 minutes of daily practice produced greater gains than 10 minutes of practice.
