Fighting Shredder in TMNT Arcade, from the Cowabunga Collection on PS5 Only a helmeted Shredder can use the mutation ray. Knock the helmet off one Shredder, then go after the remaining helmeted one. Even after both lose their helmets, if you beat the fake one first, the real one will still split in two again. (I forgot this while playing) There's a major difference in Shredder's mutation ray attack between the arcade and 8-bit Nintendo versions. On the NES, you can be hit even if you and Shredder are on different horizontal lines. Here, you only get hit if you're both on the same horizontal line.
