This game between the Washington Capitals and the Carolina Hurricanes got absolutely out of control! The final period was complete chaos and Jalen Chatfield going at it with Connor McMichael was the exclamation point! However, what Chatfield did with his takedown of McMichael without a helmet on was completely uncalled for and deserves a suspension from the NHL. Aside from Alex Ovechkin scoring yet again to get to within just 3 goals of passing Wayne Gretzky, this game was a terrible one for the Capitals as the Hurricanes poured it on and we could see frustration boiling over from Tom Wilson and the Capitals in the second half of the game resulting in several game misconducts from both teams as the benches looked awfully empty by the end of it. Undoubtably great fuel for this rivalry heading into the playoffs, but we will no doubt see this build even more in the their next meeting 8 days from now.
