Moving sheep to the winter range isn’t something you can put off. In this video, we hook up six trucks and trailers early in the morning and head to the fall country to load sheep for the winter move. With slick roads, muddy conditions, and weather closing in, every decision matters. As we’re loading, we realize we’re missing a few sheep — but waiting around too long could make hauling unsafe. Sometimes ranching means making the least bad decision, not the perfect one. After unloading the sheep on the winter range where they’ll spend the next several months, we head back days later to search for the missing sheep. We cover miles on the four-wheeler and manage to bring one home — not a big win, but a win nonetheless. This video isn’t about chaos or wrecks.
