Quick release double tap connectors can make your filter maintenance faster and easier. Specially when using Lilypipes that don't come with build in quick release feature. Before only Eheim double tap quick release connectors were available but not now JBL has released their version and I have received a package for test and review. JBL double stopcock+quick coupling (that name is tongue breaker) looks almost the same as Eheim Quick Release Double Tap. Similar dark and light grey color. The JBL design is matching to their filters. Overall I have to say, Eheim quick connector feels better in your hand, its shape is more smooth. While Eheim taps close in the same direction, JBL is using opposite direction on different sides, which works as a safety feature that helps to avoid accidental opening of the valves. Both products do not reduce the flow as the inner diameter is equal to the inner diameter of the tubing. Unfortunately the 12/16 and the 16/22 from Eheim cannot be interconnected. All in all JBL beats Eheim with the price and possibility to interconnect 12/16 with 16/22 which is the most common filter hose diameter. 12/16mm is suitable for 13mm Lily Pipes and 16/22mm is suitable for 17mm Lily Pipes. Making use of the possibility to interconnect both sizes allows to use smaller size outflow on large canister filters. Smaller size Lily Pipe not only looks nicer, but also creates a faster flow. While the Water l/h volume remains the same, the water exits the Lily Pipe with a higher speed which results in a different flow inside the Aquarium. Same Technique is used by ADA SuperJet Filters. all ADA SuperJet Filters have a smaller size outflow for the above reasons.
