This is an introductory video of a potential series - Chinese Marketing. In this video, I am giving a brief and basic introduction of the available & most effective social media apps & marketing channels for those in need to expand their business to the Chinese market. Chinese consumers can be a great source of revenue as the population is huge in China and there are a lot of Chinese living in Western countries. Many western SMEs are constantly scratching their heads about how to reach the international Chinese consumers when they don't seem to be active on the well-known social media & Internet platforms like YouTube, Instagram and Facebook, Google. Reasons for that include: These western platforms are blocked in mainland China. China sort of has its own version of all the social media platforms. So even the Chinese people living in Western countries like me spend at least half of their time on Chinese social media apps. In this video aims to help you become aware of the following apps & platforms and some of their particular features that can help you reach your Chinese target audience: 1. WeChat 2. Xiaohongshu (RED) 3. Taobao/Tmall by Alibaba 4. Douyin (Chinese TikTok) 5. Bilibili 6. Meipai 7. Pinduoduo There are many more platforms that can serve a marketing purpose but knowing the ones above are quite enough to get started.
