Skills: 20 Fire bolt + 20 Fire Ball + 20 Meteror + 20 Hydra + 20 Fire Mastery --- Requires level 94-98 (depending on 0 - 4 points put in cold and lightning) Bonus: 20 Fire Wall + 20 Warmth + 20 Fire Mastery for comparison (hybrid build of fire + something else) --- fire wall is only good for bosses but not mobs Equipments: Flickering Flame + 2 skill necklace + arachnid + 2 soj + mage fist + any boot; obsession (3 hydra + 3 meteror + 3 fire mastery) + enigma vs. HOTO + Phoenix + vipermagi; offhand cta+spirit --- can use a staff cta with chilling armor to save skill points. Merc: infinity + andy + fortitude Results (8pp mephisto): only meteror: 8.57s (the 1.2s delay is really bad here ... for diablo the time impact can be reduced) only hydra: 5.97s (setup take a few casts, similarly for diablo it can be preset) only fireball: 5.80s (most direct dmg output) only firewall: 5.97s (pretty good against bosses) setup hydra, cast a meteror then spam fireball: (obsession) 4.70s, (hoto+phoenix) 5.33s ---- Mephisto has 75 fr and already reduced to -25 by infinity+ff, so -28fr from phoenix can't make up the 3skill difference. Bonus (8pp worldstone): venom lord (obsession): 20s MoD (obsession): got unlucky (decrep'd?) 19s merc died and couldn't finish the elite and a few of the minions quickly so I exited venom lord (hoto+phoenix): 23s (they got spreaded, otherwise it should be similar to the obsession case) MoD (hoto+phoenix): 30s Baal (after static, 50%hp): 9s Conclusion: Fireball and Hydra best dmg output for fire sorc overall, meteor good addition for scenarios that you can precast it to hit and for its aoe effect. Obsession with 3fireball/3hydra/3fire mastery probably the best dmg output (better in SC) but HOTO+Phoenix should be on par with it plus better mana recovery (better in HC and if you want the build to be all around and easy to clear the whole floor) and much cheaper than finding a good base for obsession.
