For the Christmas season, I wanted to do a festive acrylic pour painting. I'm going to for a candy cane ribbon of sorts. I went for some deep Christmas colors. I used Liquitex Basics cadmium red dark hue and phthalo green. For the metallics, I used FolkArt 14K gold and platinum. Since I wanted such different patterns going throughout the painting, I used three small cups for each ribbon. Once I had finished pouring each cup, I wanted more gold in the painting so I flicked some gold paint to get the small gold spots in the painting. In the end, it turned out beautifully and very festive. The platinum makes it look like glistening snow popping up through some of the darker colors. For each painting I eye ball about 40% acrylic paint, 40% Floetrol, 20% water, and 1 - 3 drops of silicon oil in the colors I choose. I sign every piece and cover them with 3 coats of Krylon low-odor, clear gloss spray. **Please Note: It takes about 30 days for each painting to fully cure. At this point, they are washed with soapy water to remove the silicon residue on the surface.
