Kutch is a desert region of India and suffers from acute water problem. The nomadic rabari tribe migrates in search of water and fodder for their animals. The migration of rabari lasts for four to eight months before they get back to Kutch. The government has been trying to bring them to mainstream but the process has not been easy. I hope they are not marginalised by the consumerist world. Their unique and rich sustainable traditional ethos should not be ignored in process of mainstreaming. Traditional, small nomadic culture and way of life has many things to offer. Kutch has been the ancient land of rabaris but harsh weather conditions are making their life difficult and forcing them to migrate out.
