This Walking Tour takes you into the heart of Chinatown in Victoria, BC during the Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations on February 22nd, 2026. I started on Government Street and made my way down Fisgard Street, where crowds starting gathering for the event. I made a couple loops around Fisgard to capture the feeling of being there. In a short time, the crowd increased in size to the point where it became near impossible to walk up and down the street. I missed the very beginning of the performances but managed to capture the start of the parade at the corner of Government Street and Fisgard Street. It was a short but energetic moment. ⚠️ Viewer note: Portions of this video are loud due to fireworks and drums typical of Lunar New Year celebrations. If you are claustrophobic, you might find it difficult to watch at times with the large crowds. For most of this walk, I simply moved through the area and filmed the atmosphere as it happened. The weather turned out quite nice, which brought even more people out to celebrate. I did capture additional footage later that I may share in a future video. If you enjoy real-time walking tours and local event coverage, please like, comment, and subscribe to WalkVentures. I added a timestamp so you can skip directly to the Parade if you just want to see that. Further into the video you can see more lion and dragon dancing.
