My daughter came to see us for the weekend so we went for this wonderful walk towards a spectacular waterfall with rare plant life and wildlife on the way. Come with us as we make the trek up the path to the waterfall. The route starts in Bellingham in Northumberland and is approximately 3 miles long and is a relatively gentle walk with a spectacular waterfall at about halfway where you turn and retrace your tracks. You could probably man handle a child's buggy along the route but it's not suitable for wheelchairs. And it is dog friendly, with no farm animals to contend with. Hareshaw Linn is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) - I always seem to be walking at SSSI's - designated for its rare ferns and lichen. More than 300 different types of mosses, liverworts and lichen can be found. The ‘Linn’ is also home to red squirrels, great spotted woodpeckers, redstarts, dippers, badgers and Daubenton’s bats. I've walked this a few times now but it never fails to amaze with the waterfall at various degrees of spate each time it never gets old. The carpark is free but is a little small, however, there is parking in the small town of Bellingham itself, or another car park which would add a little extra to the distance walked. #walking #waterfall #northumberland #heritage #gorge #faunaflora
