The Introduction of the Mega-eco Project Symposium opens with a welcome message from Richard Weller, the past Professor and Chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture then a land recognition from Catherine Seavitt the present Professor and Chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture followed by a note on the Weitzman School of Design by Dr. Frederick Steiner the Dean and Paley Professor of the Weitzman School of Design. A keynote address on the topic of large-scale efforts needed for sustainability is given by the award-winning author and consultant Tony Hiss who recently published Rescuing the Planet: Protecting Half the Land to Heal the Earth (2021). The introduction is concluded with an introduction to the new concept of the Mega-eco and an explanation of the run of show by Robert Levinthal, PhD Candidate.
