Sometimes you just need to step outside your routine for a night. In this video I take an Uber across Chicago to meet my friend Andy for dinner at Carson’s Ribs, one of the city’s classic barbecue spots. With everything going on in my life right now—downsizing, preparing to leave Chicago after nearly four decades, and getting ready for my upcoming move to the Philippines—it felt good to get out of the apartment and enjoy a night with a friend. After dinner we walked over to a jazz club and caught a fantastic set from the Bryan Eng Trio. Bryan was incredibly gracious, and the music was outstanding. I even had the chance to talk with him after the show and pick up one of his CDs.
