Inspect the focus words while the intro song plays and then we'll get to the lesson. Lots of things can be sour. For instance, milk can go sour as we see in sample sentence number one: Молоко стало кислым. (The milk became sour.) The focus word here is кислый and кислый means sour or acid. Interestingly, "Молоко прокисал" also means "The milk became sour." Focus word number two is удаться and удаться means to succeed or to turn out well. Another word which will appear in the sample sentence is брак and брак means marriage. Along with an appropriate negation, the following sample sentence can be constructed: Брак не удался. (The marriage went sour.) Of course, the literal meaning is just "The marriage did not succeed. The third focus word is вкус and вкус means taste. Also of use in the sample sentence are: наслаждаться - to enjoy сыр - cheese Putting these words into a sentence along with a form of кислый we derive: Он наслаждался кислым вкусом сыра. (He enjoyed the sour taste of the cheese.) Moving along we have a pair of sentences which utilize the following words: дурной - bad, stupid, ugly кислый - sour, acid настроение - mood Putting these words into a couple different sample sentences we can derive: Она была в дурном настроении. Она была в кислом настроении. (She was in a sour mood.) And finally we have a pair of sentences which contain this short list of words: пожаловаться - to complain, to lament характер - character, temper, nature, type, disposition злой - wicked, evil, ill-natured, malicious, spiteful кислый - sour, acid расположение - arrangement, situation, location, disposition These words can be combined to produce the following two sample sentences: Она пожаловалась о его кислом расположении. Она пожаловалась о его злом характере. (She complained about his sour disposition.) And now for a few bonus sentences and phrases: Ребёнок сделал кислое лицо. (The child made a sour face.) зелен виноград!
