FOR STUDY AND MEDITATION: Read Ellen G. White, Steps to Christ, “Consecration,” pp. 43-48. The earthly sanctuary service consisted of two parts: the priests ministered daily in the Holy Place, and once a year the high priest performed a special atonement service in the Most Holy Place to cleanse the sanctuary. Day after day, the repentant sinner brought his offering to the door of the Tabernacle and, laying his hand on the head of the victim, confessed his sins, thus figuratively transferring them from himself to the innocent victim. Then the animal was killed. “Without shedding of blood,” says the apostle, “there is no remission of sins.” ‘The life of the flesh is in the blood’ (Lev. 17:11). God’s broken law demanded the life of the transgressor. The blood, representing the sinner’s lost life, whose guilt the victim bore, was carried by the priest into the Holy Place and sprinkled before the veil, behind which stood the ark containing the Law that the sinner had transgressed. By this ceremony, sin was figuratively transferred, through the blood, to the sanctuary. In certain cases, the blood was not carried into the Holy Place; but in those cases, the priest was to eat the flesh, as Moses had instructed the sons of Aaron when he said: ‘He gave it to you to bear the iniquity of the congregation’ (Lev. 10:17). Both ceremonies equally symbolized the transfer of the penitent's sin to the Sanctuary” (CS 413). DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: 1. Think about the promises you made and failed to keep, no matter how sincere and serious your intention to keep them may have been. What did you learn from that experience that might help you avoid making a similar mistake again? 2. The Covenant is a legal establishment of a relationship. We break that relationship with God, but He is always faithful to His part of the Covenant, even when we don't. How can understanding God's goodness and faithfulness bring humanity into a close relationship with Him and, in this way, help us live as we should? 3. Think about how many times you have been unfaithful to God and to the promises we have under the “new covenant” (see Luke 22:20; Hebrews 8:13; 9:15). Why is it so important to understand the plan of salvation and the promise of forgiveness that we have because of Jesus' sacrifice, whose blood sealed the "new covenant" for us? =================== SABBATH SCHOOL LESSON FOURTH QUARTER 2019 Narrated by: Daniel Herrera From: Colombia ==================== || www.drministries.org || =====================
