Don't miss this opportunity to explore the beauty of the night sky and take your photography skills to the next level! I visited the Painted Rocks valley just south of Tafraout, with the intention to overnight camp in the hills to capture a fantastic Milky Way image with a great foreground. The rocks had been controversially patented in the 1980s by a Belgian artist who used 18 tonnes of paint and the local fire bridge to make his vision a reality. Some love the rocks, some hate them! It nevertheless existed me as a foreground. I had a good camp spot in the hills, and at the last minute changed my strategy with the framed shot after sunset, waking up at 4am the next morning to make it happen. Like a lot of things the element of spontaneity and impulse to do something different took over.
