Contradition Ensemble: Caterina Mirtsiou, Ifigenia Papouli, Sofia Lioliopoulou, Anastasia-Sofia Anastasopoulou, Maria Kondyliou, Maria Kampaki, Penelope Broomhead-Petromelidou, Pelagia Xatzinikita, Giannis Tompazidis, Eleftherios Kalpaktsidis, Thomas Chatziprodromou, Alexandros Pourloukakis, Nikos Goulekas, Dimitrios Karolidis, Dimitris Georgopoulos, Sofianos Pesiridis Artistic Director: Akis Sakellariou Director: Grigoris Apostolopoulos The song is based on an 19th-century melody from Italy with Sephardic influences and the lyrics were written by Giorgos Zalokostas in his poem "To filima" (The Kiss) which was published in 1851. In early 20th century it was used in theatrical performances and in 1903 was sung for the first time in Sephardic dialect. In this a cappella version by Kostika Çollaku, we decided to include both languages (Greek and Jewish) Greek: Μια βοσκοπούλα αγάπησα μια ζηλεμένη κόρη, και την αγάπησα πολύ ήμουν αλάλητο πουλί, ήμουν αλάλητο πουλί δέκα χρονών αγόρι. Since I was a boy, I adored her; but she didn't love me. One day, when we were sitting in the garden, I told her, 'for you, my flower, I would die of love'. In her arms she took me, lovingly she kissed me. She answered me, sweetly; "you are too young to love". I grew up and looked for her, but to another love, I had lost her. She had forgotten about me, but I always loved her. This is an excerpt from our participation at the 55th Dimitria Festival in September 2020. Here is a playlist with all songs: • Δ55
