JNU LECTURE SERIES | Yogendra Yadav — “A Call for an Indian Political Theory” In this compelling and deeply reflective lecture, Professor Yogendra Yadav, one of India’s most respected political thinkers, takes us into the heart of a long-neglected question: Can India develop its own political theory rooted in its own historical experiences, intellectual traditions, and democratic struggles? With characteristic clarity and provocation, Prof. Yadav argues that the Indian academy has for far too long consumed theories produced elsewhere while overlooking the rich political imaginaries that arise from India’s own social churning. From the vocabulary of protest to the grammar of democracy, from Ambedkar to Gandhi, from contemporary movements to constitutional morality he makes a powerful case for why the time has come to articulate a distinct Indian Political Theory. This lecture was organised by the JNU LECTURE SERIES, a student-led initiative committed to fostering critical conversation across disciplines and generations. Moderation: Mohammed Siddique Concluding Remarks: Sachin Yadav Vote of Thanks: Nainika Sharma Join us for an evening of rigorous thought, searching questions, and a passionate call to rethink how political theory is produced in India and for India.
