My second Adventure of the year, I would go to the Strasburg Railroad. Originally my plan for the last weekend in March was to film Southern 630, on the Missionary Ridge Local excursions, at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. About an hour after I left, I found out 710 would be operating that weekend. I decided to do a complete U Turn, and turn around. I had also heard at the same time Strasburg 90 completed a successful test run. While I was not expecting to see 90 operate, I was looking forward to going back to Strasburg. On March 29th, Strasburg 89 a 2-6-0 Former Canadian National E-10-A Mogul, would be leading the trains. While I have seen 89 a few times before, it was the one engine I never really see at the Railroad, which was an added Bonus. For the most part, it was a Hazy lighting kind of day, with Sun, and overcast depending on the time. The wind was your typical wind at Strasburg. Operating 6 trains that day, I went for shots I had yet to get with 89, as well as ones I have before. Bison Rail Photography tagged along with me again, as this was a last minute adventure for the both of us. We also saw @EasternRailfanProductions A few of these locations were filmed on Private Property, where Permission was granted beforehand. With 90 returning in the near future, please don't trespass on Private Property at the Strasburg Railroad. Canadian National 89, is an E-10-A Type 2-6-0 Mogul Steam Locomotive, built by the Canadian Locomotive Company in 1910. It was originally built for the Grand Trunk Railway originally numbered 1009. In 1961, it was purchased by F Nelson Blount and would begin operating on the Green Mountain Railroad. In 1972, it was purchased by the Strasburg Railroad where it has remained ever since. It was placed in Service there in 1973. It underwent a rebuild in the 80s, and returned in 1988. In 2003 it would be modified and repainted to its 1950s Canadian National Appernace, and give the proper Strasburg treatment. It has remained this way ever since. Its last 1472 Day inspection was completed in 2017. While plans changed at the last minute last weekend, it was nice to go somewhere closer to home. That being said, there is nothing right now planned for the month of April until the last weekend. I look forward to returning to Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, for this year's Steam in the Valley, with 765. After that, it is quiet till June and we are awaiting schedules. I am hoping to be able to see #261 #1225 #630 #4501 #4960 #4014 and various others this year! As always stay tuned! If you liked this video please subscribe to my channel.
