Tutorial: Aspire Atlantis coil head rewick/rebuild using Japanese organic cotton.

To some, the ability to rebuild Atlantis heads may seem unnecessary considering the relatively inexpensive price of the replacement heads. I really wanted to see if an Atlantis head could be rebuilt with Japanese Organic Cotton sheets replacing the normal ceramic wicking, and utilizing the original stock .5 ohm R/NR coil. The first two rebuilds I tried were straight kanthal coils with 5 wraps of 24g around a 4.5mm coiling rod, these builds fit into the heads perfectly but resulted in a very strange flavor which I later tracked down to the fact that the entire wire was heating up and actually beginning to melt the rubber grommet at the base. It also resulted in charred cotton at the bottom of the coil. The reason this does not happen when using a stock coil is because the stock coils are a combination of R (Resistance) wire and NR (Non-Resistance) wire. This causes only the middle part of the coil (R wire section) to heat. There has recently been quite a bit of discussion about the potential risks of the ceramic wicking material in the stock nautilus heads. With increased airflow, lower resistance and a wicking material that tends to be brittle, there have been several reports from Reddit (Source:   / psa_careful_with_atlantis_coils   ) with users reporting issues with the wick disintegrating. In some cases this could be due to the fact that they are running the Atlantis at wattage's beyond the recommended limit of 30w and causing quick degradation of the wicking material. Any comments or constructive criticisms are welcome. Hopefully this tutorial will help those of you who are looking for a way to use an alternative wicking material in the Atlantis heads.
