God Was With Me! Semi Hit My Cones Inches From Me!

The white line is not a wall. This week, I was out with the flagship Century 1150R rotator to pick up a customer’s red Peterbilt. It was a standard hook-up on the side of the interstate, but as any tow operator knows, "standard" can turn deadly in a heartbeat. Despite having a full setup of FirstGard foldable cones creating a visible safety buffer, a passing semi-truck crossed the fog line and took a direct hit on my gear. I survived, and miraculously, so did the cones—but it was inches away from being a very different story. While my back was turned, a semi-truck plowed right through my lane, taking a direct hit on my safety cones just inches from where I was standing. The driver of the casualty thought I was a goner. God was with me on this one. That’s the only way to say it. In this video, I’m going "old school" with some rear-cam footage of the drive-in and the full breakdown of how these new folding cones survived a direct hit from a tractor-trailer.
