The disciples, having seen all the miracles Jesus did, believed that the next thing Jesus would do is to free them and restore them from the Romans who ruled them with a fist of iron. But Jesus asked them intentionally who He was, in order to correct what they were thinking. Jesus talked to them about the Son of Man dying and Peter wouldn’t have it. By trying to stop Jesus, Peter rebuked God whose will was for Jesus to suffer in order to save people. There are certain things you must go through. Jesus responded by rebuking the devil in Peter. Is what you are mindful of in line with the things of God? The things of the world are power, money, fame, materialism, etc. The focus of God is different; it is righteousness, peace and joy in the Spirit.
