This video explores Chapter 28 of the Diamond Sutra, “Not Accepting, Not Clinging”, revealing the true meaning of merit that is free from attachment. Through a dialogue between the Buddha and Subhuti, the sutra teaches that even offerings as vast as worlds filled with the seven treasures cannot compare to the wisdom of realizing non-self and cultivating patience. True merit does not arise from material generosity, but from insight that sees through all forms of grasping. In this chapter, “not receiving merit” does not mean that merit does not exist. Rather, it points to the bodhisattva’s attitude of not clinging to merit— performing wholesome actions without abiding in the idea of gain, reward, or possession. When merit is practiced without attachment, it becomes undefiled merit, leading toward the realization of the Dharma body. The commentary further illustrates this teaching through gentle metaphors, such as discovering spring not after searching far and wide, but in the fragrance of plum blossoms already blooming at home, and through the parable of The Blue Bird, which reminds us that what we seek has always been within us. Ultimately, Chapter 28 of the Diamond Sutra invites us to turn inward— to recognize that awakening is not attained by grasping, but revealed through a mind that does not seek, does not cling, and rests in its original clarity. #DiamondSutra #Vajracchedika #BuddhistWisdom #NonAttachment #NoClinging #TrueMerit #BodhisattvaPath #Emptiness #NonSelf #PrajnaWisdom #BuddhaTeachings #ZenBuddhism #Mindfulness #InnerAwakening #SpiritualInsight #DharmaTalk #CHACHABuddhistStories
