Ted Greene performs an improvised medley of 12 songs on solo electric guitar, restored from the unreleased archival audio. For this wedding reception, Ted specially chose these classic love songs, which explores various facets of romantic relationships, from the initial infatuation and the desire for a partner to enduring commitment and the pain of lost love. PLEASE SUPPORT THE OFFICIAL ARCHIVE: https://tedgreene.support • “Let It Be Me” is a plea for mutual love and commitment, famously recorded by the Everly Brothers. • “Someone to Watch Over Me” and “You Belong to Me” express a longing for a loving partner and the security of a relationship. • “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” while often associated with sports teams, is a powerful song of support and solidarity, a form of love. • “Our Love Is Here to Stay” is a classic testament to a love that will last forever, even through changing times. • The three songs from the musical My Fair Lady — “On the Street Where You Live,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face” — collectively trace the evolution of love, from the giddy excitement of new feelings to a quiet, deep, and familiar affection. • “The Look of Love” and “The Shadow of Your Smile” capture the subtle but profound emotions associated with love, whether it’s the visual acknowledgment of it or the lingering memory of a past relationship. • “If” by David Gates is a gentle, heartfelt song that defines love through simple, everyday actions. • “It Never Entered My Mind” is a poignant reflection on the unexpected and sometimes painful nature of falling in love. This performance was recorded at Joey and Jackie Backenstoe’s wedding on March 4, 1989, held at a private home. The event was videotaped and audio recorded separately on analog tape. The video contains considerable room noise, including guest conversations. The audio tape—used for this restoration—was recorded on a 2-track deck: the right channel’s mic pointed directly at Ted’s amp, while the left channel picked up guitar but also with more ambient sounds from the audience. The video version of the wedding is available on the Ted Greene YouTube channel, and while it sounds quite good overall, this medley appears only on the audio tape. We’re honored to share as much of this performance as possible, and we hope you enjoy Ted’s brilliant playing. 00:00 00 – Improvised Fanfare intro. 00:45 01 – Let It Be Me (Gilbert Bécaud / Pierre Delanoë, Manny Curtis, 1955) 03:13 02 – Someone to Watch Over Me (George Gershwin / Ira Gershwin, 1926) 04:52 03 – You’ll Never Walk Alone (Richard Rodgers / Oscar Hammerstein II, 1945) 07:49 04 – Our Love Is Here to Stay (George Gershwin / Ira Gershwin, 1938) 10:06 05 – On the Street Where You Live (Frederick Loewe / Alan Jay Lerner, 1956) 11:47 06 – I Could Have Danced All Night (Frederick Loewe / Alan Jay Lerner, 1956) 13:01 07 – I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face (Frederick Loewe / Alan Jay Lerner, 1956) 15:21 08 – The Look of Love (Burt Bacharach / Hal David, 1967) 17:36 09 – The Shadow of Your Smile (Johnny Mandel / Paul Francis Webster, 1965) 21:01 10 – If (David Gates, 1971) 22:54 11 – You Belong to Me (Chilton Price / Pee Wee King & Redd Stewart, 1952) 25:46 12 – It Never Entered My Mind (Richard Rodgers / Lorenz Hart, 1940) All songs arranged by Ted Greene © Copyright 2025 TedGreene.com.
