In UAE, the Financial Intelligence Unit uses this goAML Portal to collect the data pertaining the suspicious transactions related to money laundering, terrorism financing or proliferation financing. In this video, we shall discuss the procedure to register on the goAML portal, who should register there, and the documents required to complete the registration. The objective of the goAML platform is to collect, manage, and store information about suspicious transactions reported by regulated entities as required under the UAE’s AML regulations. Not just suspicious transactions but any other reporting mandated under AML regulations has to be filed through the goAML portal only. Now, let’s find out who needs to register on the goAML portal in UAE. Since AML regulations in UAE mandate the following entities to detect and report suspicious transactions, these entities must register on the goAML portal: • Financial Institutions • Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) • Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs) Let’s look at the process of registering on the goAML platform. The goAML registration is a two stages process. The first stage involves registering on the goAML portal’s Service Access Control Manager System (SACM). Registration on SACM gives the applicant a username and a secret key to set up the Google Authenticator application. The second stage is registration on the goAML portal. The Google Authenticator application must be set up on the applicant’s registered mobile number using the secret key received in the first stage. Now, using the username received after completion of the first stage and the six-digit code appearing on the Google Authenticator as the password, complete the registration on the goAML portal, furnishing complete details about the organisation and the Compliance Officer. The goAML registration application must be supported with the following documents: • Authorisation letter on the letterhead of the organisation, indicating the appointment of an AML Compliance Officer • A copy of the Trade license of the organisation • A copy of the identification document, such as a passport, resident visa, or Emirates ID, of the person filling out the registration application on the goAML platform. Upon submission of the goAML registration, the relevant supervisory authority will review the details and approve the reporting entity’s goAML registration.
