A Creative Commons license enables the free distribution of an otherwise copyright protected "work". Today we’ll overview the “CC zero” license - which is unique because here the owner is actually giving up the copyright. You heard that right. A person using the Zero license is releasing the work into the public domain & waiving all rights to the work under copyright law. In addition to granting usage rights like selling, copying and sharing, an important aspect of all Creative Commons licenses is that they are permanent. So once the work is released under a CC license, those rights can not be revoked. Other key terms to note include the warranty provision which may make the end user responsible to double check to make sure the person actually has the right to put the work into the public domain. So it is important to read the full terms for this or any license BEFORE you use it to get a full understanding of what you are committing to as a creator or what you are truly able or not able to do as an end user.
