The Tatra 603 (1955-1975) was the last of the famous line of Tatra passenger cars with a jet body (the first was the Tatra 77 from 1933). The car was primarily intended as a representative official vehicle, or as a passenger vehicle intended mainly for longer routes. In 1955, the first prototype, with a slightly different shape, was built, followed in the following years by a 10-piece verification series and then small series production. The car stood out with graceful and balanced shapes, which significantly distinguished it from other car production at the time. Thanks to its aerodynamically shaped bodywork, it won several awards at elegance competitions (e.g. Golden Ribbon of Wiesbaden). The bodywork is the work of artist F. Kardaus and V. Popelář, head of the Tatra design office in Prague at the time. The vehicle was manufactured at the Tatra Kopřivnice plant, later at the subsidiary Tatra Příbor plant. Cars of the first series were characterized by a typical three-light front mask, after modernization (Tatra 2-603 from the end of 1963) the mask was four-light. The vehicle's body received its final form in the 1968 model year. #veteran #vintage #car #vintagecars #vintagestyle
