The Cotton Merchants’ Gate is probably the most magnificent of the current gates of the Temple Mount. The gate was built in the 14th century between 1336-1337 under the supervision of Tankiz al-Nasiri, governor of Syria and the Land of Israel, the greatest builder of Jerusalem during the Mamluk period. The gate connects the Temple Mount with the Cotton Merchant’s Market. The Cotton Merchants' Gate is in the Western Wall of the Temple Mount, located between the Chain Gate and the Iron Gate. The gate is located 150 meters north of the prayer plaza at the Western Wall and is located approximately opposite the Dome of the Rock.
