An elegant residential apartment block, The Greenhouse offers 93 homes in one of the most sought-after locations in Auckland. Designed by Ockham Residential, the building both reflects and enhances the high quality of the urban environment, using brickwork to shape the living experience. At 37-metres tall, The Greenhouse offers almost 360-degree views of Auckland. The residents of the building – including renters, downsizers and people requiring a weekend getaway – are drawn to the area by its proximity to vibrant Ponsonby Road. Catering to a variety of lifestyles, The Greenhouse provides a wide selection of apartments, ranging from 50-square-metre studios to four-bedroom homes. “The neat thing about creating a range of opportunities and apartments in a space like this, is it means that you have diversity in the community within the building,” says William Deihl, CEO at Ockham Residential. The project is crafted as an elegant residential apartment block, detached from the bustle of the suburb while embracing natural light and sweeping views. Drawing inspiration from the meaning of ‘Aotearoa’ (New Zealand), Ockham Residential connects the elegant residential apartment block with nature. The exterior of the building is clad in glazed green Brickworks bricks, reflecting the hues of the forested mountains, while the interior features slate benchtops that evoke the beaches of Piha and Murawe. “In partnership with Brickworks here in New Zealand, we managed to find a supplier to get us the perfect brick,” says Deihl. “We managed to source the bricks about 40 minutes north of Venice from a company called San Selmo. They are a family-owned business and the care that they took with these bricks truly shows with what we've got on our facade.” Hand glazed and cast at the San Selmo factory, the bricks establish The Greenhouse as unique. From Pollen Street, the main entrance welcomes residents through a brick archway under which slate steps lead to large steel doors. Inside, the lobby is adorned with mirrored panels and artworks from local artists. Two brass lifts provide access to the lobby on each level of the elegant residential apartment block. In a two-bedroom apartment, the living, kitchen and dining areas are incorporated into an open floor plan and a sliding door opens to a north-facing deck. Pitched at a specific angle, the outdoor space captures maximum natural light. “During the process of the build, we realised that the commercial spaces that we had available in the building could be well-suited to be used for our own team,” says Deihl. “For years we'd been separated within our business, where our construction arm, our design arm and our sales arm had all been operating from separate offices, so it was a really neat way to be able to bring all of our business together and finally be able to work from one space again.” In The Greenhouse, Ockham Residential’s vision of an elegant residential apartment block in Auckland is vividly realised. Championing nature as a vital element of urban living, the building proposes a warm and enriching place to live. 00:00 - Introduction to the Residential Apartment Block 01:40 - A Walkthrough of the Building 03:00 - Inspired by Aotearoa 03:40 - Sourcing The Green Bricks 04:42 - Highlights of the Building For more from The Local Project: Instagram – / thelocalproject Website – https://thelocalproject.com.au/ LinkedIn – / the-local-project-publication Print Publication – https://thelocalproject.com.au/public...
