Zambezi Blues (demos version) / Chimurenga inspired original groove. It must have been at least 15 years ago that my band mate from Mankala, Simwinji Zeko from Zambia, got me listening to Thomas Mapfumo and his Chimurenga style of music from Zimbabwe, and of course to other Zimbawean and South African musicians such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Louis Mhlanga to name but a few... Simwinji's own guitar playing takes a lot of inspiration from these guys which in turn influenced my playing during the years working together in Mankala (2003-2019). 'Zambezi Blues' is my homage to my band mate Simwinji and the title of the song comes from the Zambezi river, which runs along the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Recorded at La Tablada Studios, Tenerife, Canary Islands, July 2020.
