"La vie en rose," translated directly from French to English, means "Life in pink." However, the phrase is meant to depict a state where everything appears rosy (pink) or cheerful to you. It's about a state of bliss, where everything around you is a source of joy. This is the kind of state you are usually in when you are deeply in love. So why this song for Cartinelli? Well, the obvious is that I "ship" them together. I want them to have a romantic relationship. I used clips from Agent Carter that show the connection and relationship these two women have. But there is also something else... The song can essentially be segmented into three parts. The beginning (just the music), the middle (music with singing) and the end (intense, climactic music). I felt like that helped symbolize Angie and Peggy's relationship. The beginning is when they are casual friends, trying to figure out each other. Peggy is distant, thinking that anyone she gets close to will get hurt in some way. Angie only seeks a friend to confide in (hint, she wants that friend to be Peggy). The middle is when Peggy moves into the Griffith and they become closer and learn more about each other. They start to open up (ever so slightly) and become familiar with each other's quirks. The final part is when their relationship becomes incredibly strong. Angie helps Peggy in a time of need, showing that these two women are there for each other one hundred percent. They plan on being there for each other when they decide to move in together at the end of the season. ...and that is why I chose this song.
