It's a blank slate. Knowing this, I wanted to stamp my name, Commander Korroborant, on my favorite places in the Milky Way. First up: HIP 35793, also known as VY Canis Major A, one of the largest hypergiant stars in the known galaxy. At about 2,000 light years from home, and well into the deep desert of uncivilized space, the voyage is daunting. VY CMa is special not only because of its immensity, but because Dr. Kaii's tour of it inspired me to learn this challenging space simulator and become an explorer of the far reaches of the galaxy. But what if another pilot has already claimed VY CMa? There's no way to know without going there myself. And even if it's yet unclaimed, I have to make it all the way back to civilized territory to have my discovery recognized. At least the scenery will be impressive, even if my expedition is a failure. I'll find out soon. 2,000 LY behind me and I only have one hyperspace jump left…
