Part of the Overland Route, Donner Pass has a steep approach crossing the Sierras from Roseville, California to Sparks, Nevada. Originally accomplish by the Central Pacific, it was part of the first transcontinental railroad in the United States. This route consists of steep grades, snow sheds, long tunnels and tight curves. In this video, it represents the years of steam from 1910 up to 1957. You can see Southern Pacific articulated cab forward 4-8-8-2 locomotives pulling freight and passengers over the hill. MT-4 engines and consolidations work over the Sierras as well. We also start to see first generation diesels appearing on the Sierra Crossing as well. This video is not meant to be historically accurate since consists are likely incorrect or some of the locomotives I used aren’t meant to work on Donner Pass. Trainz content belongs to and are from TrainzForge, K&L Trainz, Paulz Trainz, JointedRail, the Download station, and more. Please note that this Donner Pass diorama route is private and won’t be released in the future. It’s actually incomplete with parts of the routes looking bland. Recently, I bought the Donner Pass book by John R. Signor at a model railroad open house for $10 plus some HO scale locomotives. I looked through the book and thought that I could do a video dedicated to Donner Pass from 1910 - 1957.
