On the morning of 24 March 1985, two three-car electric trains met head-on on a single-track section of line near Trinder Park, between Kuraby and Beenleigh on Brisbane’s southside. One driver, aged 54, and an 18-year-old passenger were killed. Nineteen others were injured. This crash happened on a corridor that had only recently been electrified and controlled by a computer-based “fail-proof” signalling system. In theory, that system should have made a head-on collision on single track impossible. In practice, it didn’t. This is an educational video, not a gore or shock reel. The focus is on what happened, why it happened, and what it says about relying on single-track, maintenance cuts and buzzwords like “fail-proof” in a growing city. The story is told with respect for the driver, the young passenger who died, the injured, and the emergency crews who worked the scene. 👍 SUPPORT THE CHANNEL If you want more real-world stories like this – Australian rail disasters, public transport tragedies, and dangerous places where normal life and catastrophe collide – please like the video, subscribe, and tap the bell so you don’t miss the next episode of Cruel Lore. 📽 FOOTAGE & CREDITS Where third-party clips or images are used, they are sourced from Creative Commons–licensed material and credited to the original creators in this description. #queenslandrail #trinderpark #traincrashes #headoncollision #beenleighline #brisbane #qld #raildisaster #publictransport #cruellore #disasterhistory #australianhistory #educationalvideo #australianrail #australiantrains #railwayaustralia #australianrailways #australiantransport #suburbanrail #commutertrain #electrictrains #queenslandtrains #queenslandtransport #brisbanerail #railhistory #transporthistory #safetysystems #signalsystem #singletrack #doubledtrack #infrastructurefail #railaccident #railway #raildisaster #qr
