Jackson C. Frank - Milk and Honey (Cover)

This week’s cover song – ‘Milk and Honey’ by Jackson C. Frank. Someone on Tik Tok suggested I cover him so here we are! I had heard a few of his songs before but did not know too much about him but wow, this guy has a very interesting but tragic story. He released just one album Jackson C. Frank (1965) which was produced by Paul Simon (so you know it’s good). Apparently, Frank was so nervous while recording that he had to have screens around him so no one could see. Unfortunately, the album did very poorly in terms of sales which put Frank off releasing music ever again. He briefly dated Sandy Denny and it was him who convinced her to pursue music. Frank tragically suffered from serious mental health problems in his life. He had PTSD from an explosion in his school that killed 15 students and gave him physical disabilities in his joints. He was also diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia meaning he was in and out of mental institutions for decades. If that wasn’t bad enough, he also lost a son, spent his final years on the streets AND was shot and blinded in his left eye by random teenagers in the 90s. He died of pneumonia in 1999 aged 56. Sorry if all that put you in a bad mood but I was just so horrified reading about his story; just when you think it surely can’t get worse, it does.
