Welcome to my channel! In today’s video, I’ll be demonstrating an interesting technique from the world of goldwork embroidery: Elizabethan twist. Whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or just dipping your toes into the shimmering pool of metal thread embroidery, this tutorial will guide you step-by-step through the process of mastering Elizabethan twist. A calico sits behind your chosen fabric. This adds additional support to the weight of the embroidery and helps support plunging and tying back the ends. Once you have completed the embroidery you can plunge the loose ends and weave them through the back. You will need - Elizabethan Twist Stranded Cotton or other embroidery thread No.12 embroidery needle Sharp embroidery scissors Beeswax Hoop or slate frame Fabric - I suggest you use a linen or cotton of medium weight to support plunging and tying back the ends.
