Spinal arachnoid cysts are lesions that develop within the spinal canal and can affect neural structures, occasionally leading to significant clinical problems. Theoretically, these cysts form when the arachnoid membrane is torn due to localized trauma, inflammation, or developmental anomalies, which subsequently sets the stage for cyst formation. In diagnosis, a detailed evaluation of the cyst's location, content, size, and its relationship with surrounding tissues is imperative. These cysts may compress nerve roots, resulting in pain, numbness, and, in severe cases, advanced neurological deficits due to spinal cord compression. Surgical intervention should aim to decompress the spinal cord and restore cerebrospinal fluid dynamics. In surgical planning, factors such as the cyst's accessibility, the sensitivity of adjacent structures, and the minimization of potential complication risks and recurrence are critical determinants of treatment success.
