Starting just off a Surrey high street, within a mile the trail enters woodland and then ascends to the highest point in the South Downs National Park, snaking through glades, copse, fields and heathland as it rises and falls through the Wealden Greensand Hills. The 50k is part of the Golden Trail National Series UK, of 4 races throughout England, Scotland & Wales! This stunning Ultra race starts from near Petworth, the mid-point of the Serpent Trail and along with the 20k and 10k races is along the southern section of the trail to Petersfield. The second half of the Serpent Trail has smaller hills and lower level sandy trails and paths with sections of road linking them up, so this friendly running event is completely suitable and inclusive for walkers as well as runners!
