You’ve been dreaming of life on the road and you’re finally in the market for an RV. But with so many different types of RVs, where do you even begin? How do you choose the best one for your lifestyle? In this episode of Campsite Classes, our host Jason will cover the pros and cons of each RV type for both motorized and non-motorized options. Non-Motorized 1. Pop-Up Camper This is the smallest type of RV and generally the lowest cost. It’s great for the occasional RVer on a budget. A pop-up camper is easy to tow and maneuver but has limited space and storage. It’s also good to know that they may not include onboard water or air conditioning. General Cost Range: $10,000 - $30,000 2. Travel Trailer These come in a variety of lengths and can be towed by an SUV or truck. You also have the option of unhitching your tow vehicle for use around town. Since backing up can be a little tricky, we’ve provided some RV parking tips for you to check out. General Cost Range: $20,000 - $200,000 3. Fifth Wheel This type of RV requires a HD truck along with a special hitch mounted in the truck bed for towing. The benefits include more space, which features lengths that typically range from 40-50 feet. You’ll also want to be aware that fifth wheels may not fit all RV resorts or campgrounds. General Cost Range: $60,000 - $200,000 Motorized 1. Class B Great for one to two people, Class B options include vans or camper vans. They’re ideal for boondocking and RV resorts, are easy to drive, and conveniently unhook from utilities so you can get around town. The cons include fewer amenities and limited storage space. General Cost Range: $60,000 - $200,000 2. Class C You’ll recognize this RV as having a truck in front with live-in quarters in the back. They are fully appointed and typically include a shower, kitchen, refrigerator, and more. Class C vehicles are also spacious and easy to maneuver. The main drawback is that you’ll need a secondary vehicle to drive around town while you leave it hooked up on the property. General Cost Range: $150,000 - $400,000 3. Class A This type of RV is the largest and typically looks like a bus. There are a variety of options and plenty of features that helps maximize space and storage. The size makes them great for families and longer trips. You can also choose from gasoline or diesel motors and there is a built-in generator for boondocking. As for cons, they may not fit all RV resorts or campgrounds, can be tricker to drive, and have lower fuel efficiency. General Cost Range: $150,000 - $1,000,000 Remember that when you’re considering an RV there are many options out there. Take into account your budget, your space and storage needs, as well as the kind of trip you’ll be taking when shopping around. What kind of RV do you think is best for you?
