The Philippines and Germany are two different countries in opposite sides of the world that both share a common bond: A love for the Philippines National Hero Jose Rizal. In 1886, Rizal traveled from Paris to Heidelberg where he would attend the University of Heidelberg. In April he would meet a Pastor named Karl Ullmer along the famous Philosophers's Way who would later invite him into his house in Wilhelmsfeld, Germany. Rizal ended up spending 3 months at Ullmer's house and celebrated his 25th birthday there. Jose Rizal was also known to finish his novel Noli Me Tangere while living in Wilhelmsfeld. Fast-Forward to 2019 in Wilhelmsfeld. There now stands Jose Rizal Park dedicated to the Filipino and his friends. The first street outside the Philippines named after Rizal is also located here. In a small town in Germany, half a world away a Filipino man is revered and admired. Just goes to show the impact one person can make! #joserizalpark #wilhelmsfeld #heidelberg Please Like, Comment, Subscribe, Hit the Notification Bell & Travel on Jaycation! http://bit.ly/2lfv4ig _Follow Jaycation on Social Media_ Blog: https://bit.ly/2IaBLxL FB: https://bit.ly/2KnW3FG Twitter & IG: @JaycationTV Snap: Jaydaheat Yelpfood: https://bit.ly/2UczcNi
