This Antoine Di Mauro guitar was built in the 1940s, and this demo was played by Ferenc Illés, one of its previous owners. Ferenc is a professional musician who plays gypsy guitar in bands and teaches. About the guitar and Antonio Di Mauro: Antoine Di Mauro (1893–1966), together with other master Sicilian luthiers (Busato, Oliveri Anastasio, etc.), left Catania in the early 20th century to set up shop on the East Side of Paris. These makers became legends as they went on to craft some of the most iconic Selmer-Maccaferri-style instruments we know and love today. Di Mauro was one of the most successful and long-lasting luthiers of that generation, and his instruments were widely played and adored. Guitars by Antoine Di Mauro were always regarded as player-grade instruments and were treated as such. This Grande Bouche, built in the 1940s, shows signs of use, reflecting the fact that it was well-loved and frequently played. It sounds and plays as great as ever! Just pick it up, strum a few chords, and you’ll be enchanted by its impressive dry, woody, and powerful tone. The demo was recorded at Stageshop. The audio, video recording, and all editing were done by Áron Bajnok. We used the Middle-Side microphone recording technique with a Neumann KM 184 at the center and an Austrian Audio OC818 for the stereo ambient sides. The UAD Apollo X4 mic preamp and AD converter were used along with ProTools DAW. No EQ or effects were applied to the recording. The guitar is being sold by Stageshop.
