Since our body is made up of 60% water, it is important that we maintain bodily composition for our bodies' physiological systems to function well. And since water flows through our organs and cells, it is imperative that the water we drink and use be clean and safe, pure and healthy, free from disease, metal, human and animal feces (coliform). Why is clean and safe water important? "Water assists in many important functions that our body performs on a daily basis. Among them is for nourishment. We, humans, need to be adequately hydrated to maintain the health of our organs, also, it allows the blood to maintain the consistency it requires to be able to flow freely and transport oxygen and nutrients to every cell in the body hence the need for clean and safe water. Second, Clean and safe water helps prevent disease. When we are unable to access clean and safe water, water-borne diseases such as dysentery, typhoid, cholera, and hepatitis may ensue. Lastly, clean and safe water helps get rid of toxins that may be a result of bodily reactions to external sources or from those that occur when we drink contaminated water. I cannot overemphasize the relevance of clean and safe water in the promotion of public health. It is important that we not only remain safe from disease but that we maintain good health especially during these times of the pandemic.
