Step into the world of one of Canada's most dedicated and beloved landscape painters. This video showcases 100 works by Frank Shirley Panabaker (1904–1992), a lifelong professional artist born in Hespeler, Ontario (now part of Cambridge), whose brushwork captured the soul of this country across nearly six decades of painting. Panabaker studied under Arthur Lismer and J.E.H. MacDonald at the Ontario College of Art — two legendary members of the Group of Seven — and later trained at the Grand Central School of Art in New York City. He became one of only a handful of Canadians elected to the Allied Artists of America, and was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Academy. He also served six years on the board of trustees of the National Gallery of Canada. His landscapes range from the shores of Georgian Bay and the forests of Muskoka, Haliburton, and Algonquin Park to the peaks of the Canadian Rockies near Mount Assiniboine, as well as scenes from Nassau and the British Isles. He documented Hamilton, Ontario through all seasons — its farmers' market, steel industry, and harbour. Panabaker painted until the final weeks of his life, dying at 87. His work is held in the collections of the Art Gallery of Ontario, Art Gallery of Hamilton, Museum London, and Agnes Etherington Art Centre. Frank Panabaker was featured in the book "Four Artists of Hespeler", which celebrates the remarkable artistic legacy of his hometown. 📖 Book: Four Artists of Hespeler → https://www.amazon.ca/Four-Artists-He... 📖 Author Book: https://paullangan.com
